For all difficult cases

Lasers open up new possibilities for machining sapphire

Transparency, hardness and scratch resistance: These are only three of the many positive characteristics of sapphire glass. In the watchmaking industry this is very often used to protect watches, glasses, bezels and dials against damage. Laser technology allows sapphire glass to be machined at low cost.

After diamonds, sapphire is the second hardest transparent material. It is very difficult to machine mechanically. However, lasers can cut it, drill it or remove material from it without problems. Lasers can cut the most intricate contours on sapphire blanks. Very fine laser holes or highly precise removal of material values for logos or letters open up limitless possibilities for watchmaking designers.

It fills us with pride every time we succeed in making a piece of jewellery and we later see it in a display window or shop.
